Airport Information

There are two international airports within an hour's drive of Turnberry: Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Edinburgh International Airport is less than two hours drive away.

Glasgow Airport is the busiest of Scotland's three main international airports. Over 40 airlines serve around 80 destinations. Glasgow Prestwick Airport has flights to and from over 25 European destinations.

Driving Directions

Turnberry is closer than you think, and with recent upgrades to the M77 Turnberry it is now only 1 hour drive from Glasgow City Centre.

From Glasgow International Airport 88km/55 miles (approximately 55 minutes)

Join the M8 motorway eastbound towards Glasgow city centre and Edinburgh
Exit the M8 at junction 24
Follow signs for the M77/A77 towards Prestwick Airport and Kilmarnock
Follow directions as described above (from Glasgow)

From Glasgow Prestwick Airport 32km/20 miles (approximately 30 minutes)

Turn right out of the airport complex
Join the A78 following signs for the A77 to Glasgow and Stranraer
Take the A77 southbound signposted to Ayr and Stranraer
Follow the A77 southbound through Minishant, Maybole and Kirkoswald
2 miles after Kirkoswald take the right hand turn signposted to Turnberry
After half a mile take a right hand turn into the hotel driveway

From Edinburgh International Airport 152km/95 miles (approximately 2 hours)

Take the M8 motorway westbound through Glasgow until you see signs for M77
Take the M77/A77 southbound, sign posted Kilmarnock and Prestwick Airport and follow the directions as described above (from Glasgow)

From Glasgow City Centre 80km/50 miles (approximately 1 hour)

Take the M77/A77 southbound from Glasgow signposted to Kilmarnock
Continue on the A77 southbound through the outskirts of Ayr
Follow the A77 southbound through Minishant, Maybole and Kirkoswald
2 miles after Kirkoswald take the right hand turn signposted to Turnberry
After half a mile take a right hand turn into the hotel driveway

From the South (Carlisle) - 128km/80 miles (approximately 2 hours)

Take the M6 to Carlisle (junction 44)
At Carlisle continue northbound on the A74 (M) to junction 12
Take the A70 westbound towards Cumnock and Ayr
On the outskirts of Ayr take the A77 southbound towards Girvan and Stranraer
Continue on the A77 through Minishant, Maybole and Kirkoswald
2 miles after Kirkoswald take the right hand turn signposted to Turnberry
After half a mile take a right hand turn into the hotel driveway

Ferry Information

There are three ferry terminals within an hour's drive of Turnberry: Stranraer and Cairnryan to the south and Troon to the north.

Cairnryan and Troon terminals are accessible from Larne, Northern Ireland while Stranraer ferry departs from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Rail Information

Turnberry can also be accessed through the railway network. Ayr railway station is just 25 minutes from Turnberry, alternatively Girvan and Maybole stations are 10 minutes away. Train information
