Hole 8 - Perfect Play Explained

This picturesque short par 4 must be played strategically in my opinion. There is a temptation for the longer hitter to take on the hidden green from the tee but you need a lot of luck to avoid the thick rough and to find this small target. I prefer a fairway wood or rescue club from the tee and playing to the left of the cairn stone will offer the best possible view of this green. From there you are left with a short downhill approach shot that is played to a green that slopes from front to back. One way to get your second shot close to the pin is to land it short of the green and allow the ball to run up to the hole. If you decide to play that shot then be careful as the two deep pot bunkers that guard this green can be brutal. It is important to allow for enough borrow on the sloping green with your putt as the ball will move more then you initially think.
