Hole 10 - Perfect Play Explained

Your drive on this tough par 4 must miss the two well placed fairway bunkers on the right hand side of this fairway. The fairway tends to throw balls from right to left as they land so it is important that your tee shot is as close to the bunkers as possible, to stand a chance of holding the left side of this fairway. A difficult 2nd shot of around 180 yards is the reward for a well place drive. The 2nd shot plays slightly uphill to this raised green to allow the left to right slope to gather the ball into the heart of the green. You must be precise with this approach shot as a shot missing the green left will leave an extremely difficult chip shot from a severe mound of tenacious rough to a green that runs away from you and a shot landing on the right half of the green will more often then not fall off the right hand side of the putting surface down another steep slope leaving an unenviable up n' down. Leaving the ball below the hole offers the best chance of holding a putt on this punishing green.
